EPITCH TV CAMPAGN

Epitech

The Kanbios agency hired us for a key mission for their client, the Epitech school. We were tasked with producing three ad spots based on a strong creative concept. The idea was to bring illustrated scenes to life in a punchy style, inspired by manga and comics. While the agency had a clear artistic vision and the illustrator to draw it, they faced a major challenge. They lacked the in-house technical skills to make it happen. Our role was to become their production partner, the team able to turn these static illustrations into an animated epic while respecting the original art.

To achieve this ambition and preserve the artist’s style, we dismissed traditional 2D animation. We implemented a more immersive and elegant solution: the parallax technique, also known as 2.5D. The process began with a careful deconstruction of each illustration. We cut out characters, sets, and backgrounds to reassemble them on separate layers in a 3D environment. This reconstruction gave us the core freedom to move a virtual camera inside the drawing itself.

This method allowed us to create smooth tracking shots and a striking depth of field, breaking the image’s flat appearance. With this new dimension, we infused the work with life through subtle animations, never altering the original illustrations. Careful compositing was the final touch, adding dynamic light effects and stylized transitions that gave the project its cinematic feel.

The result was a major success, confirmed by metrics and lasting popularity. The campaign quickly gathered over 500,000 views on YouTube and aired during prime time on television, reaching a massive audience. The strongest indicator of the project’s success is its longevity. Years after their launch, these spots remain among the most viewed videos on the entire Epitech YouTube channel. We delivered more than a technical service. We helped create a durable brand asset that continues to perform and make a lasting impression.
