In 2016, the Master Images agency gave us a significant assignment for its client, Thales. We needed to produce a 2-minute, 30-second 4K animation for a large event screen at a trade show. The goal was to showcase Thales’s innovative systems for ensuring troop safety in operational zones.
The challenge was twofold. First, we had to address the serious topic of security in conflict zones. Our approach needed to be educational and engaging without oversimplifying the subject. Second, we had to find a way to visualize abstract concepts like communication flows, making them clear for everyone.
To meet this dual requirement, we chose a strong creative direction. We designed the scene as a 3D diorama. This method let us build a world that was both realistic and stylized, with precisely modeled vegetation and units. The “scale model” feel instantly set a strategic yet playful tone. It prompted the viewer to analyze the scene like a tactician.
To visualize data flows, we avoided traditional information overlays. Instead, we developed an interface integrated directly into the 3D environment. Communication lines, icons, and key information became integral parts of the setting. This fusion of environment and data made complex information easy to read and understand instantly.
The final animation perfectly achieved its goal. It translated a complex message into a clear and captivating visual story. The diorama approach provided the right balance of seriousness and education. The integrated 3D interface turned abstract data into a concrete, understandable narrative element.
The project showed our ability to turn a technical brief into an effective narrative solution where creativity directly serves the message.
